Over Watering

Avalon Landscaping – Ongoing Water Waste Near Woodbury St. and NW 11th Ave. Residents Should Report It

Crossfield residents have continued reporting an ongoing irrigation problem in the common area near Woodbury St. and NW 11th Ave. in Meridian. This issue appears to involve a stuck irrigation valve that keeps allowing water to run when it should not.

This is not a one-time problem. Residents have reported this same issue repeatedly for approximately two years, and it has continued again over the past month.

Each time someone comes out, the response appears to be the same: the valve is tapped, adjusted briefly, and then left in place. The valve is not being replaced, and the problem keeps coming back.

That is not a real repair. That is a temporary patch.

Avalon, Watkins Carter, and the irrigation district need to be made aware

Residents should contact the responsible parties and report the issue every time it happens:

Avalon
Phone: (208) 376-6599

Watkins Carter Association Management
Phone: (208) 297-3233

Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District — Main Office
Phone: (208) 466-7861

Flood / water emergency contacts listed by NMID:
Nampa City Limits: (208) 468-5860
Business Hours: (208) 466-7861
After Hours: (208) 489-6345

If water is actively running, residents should report it as a waste-of-water issue and document the date, time, location, and how long the water ran.

Temporary tapping is not enough

If a valve has been sticking for two years, then tapping it once or twice and walking away is not a proper long-term solution. The valve should be inspected, repaired correctly, or replaced.

We also believe residents deserve to know whether Watkins Carter is being billed every time someone comes out for the same temporary fix instead of approving a proper replacement. If repeated service calls are being paid for while the same faulty valve remains in place, that raises serious questions about cost, accountability, and maintenance oversight.

This should not be about saving a few dollars on a valve while wasting hundreds or thousands of gallons of water.

“Dirt” is not a good enough excuse

We have heard that dirt may be blamed for the issue. But if there is a netline filter in place, and if other valves in the same system are not getting stuck the same way, then blaming dirt does not fully explain the problem.

If one valve keeps failing and the others do not, then the failing valve needs to be replaced or properly repaired.

This is wasteful and unacceptable

Water is a valuable resource in Idaho. Allowing the same stuck valve to continue wasting water year after year is irresponsible.

This reflects poorly on the companies responsible for maintaining the property. Avalon should not ignore a repeated water-waste issue in a common area. Watkins Carter should make sure the HOA and residents are not paying for repeated short-term visits when a permanent fix is needed. The irrigation district should also be made aware when water is being wasted.

Residents should not have to keep reporting the same problem over and over while nothing meaningful changes.

What residents should do

If you see a stuck valve, running irrigation water, flooding, or repeated watering in the common area near Woodbury St. and NW 11th Ave., please take action:

  1. Call Avalon at (208) 376-6599.
  2. Call Watkins Carter Association Management at (208) 297-3233.
  3. Call Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District at (208) 466-7861.
  4. If it is after hours and water is actively running, call the NMID after-hours number: (208) 489-6345.
  5. Take photos or video if possible.
  6. Write down the date, time, and how long the water was running.
  7. Let Crossfield HOA know so the issue can be tracked.

This needs to be fixed properly. The community deserves responsible maintenance, honest follow-through, and better stewardship of Idaho’s water.
