Irrigation systems to close for season on Oct. 6 for Nampa and Meridian

Nampa, Idaho(CBS2) The City of Nampa’s pressurized irrigation system will close for the season on Monday, October 6, along with Meridian’s irrigation.
The Pioneer Irrigation District and Boise-Kuna Irrigation District will end their irrigation season on October 7. Nampa receives water from these three districts, and the end of their water allotment determines the shutdown of the city’s system.
The city calculates yearly irrigation assessments based on property square footage, as the irrigation water is not metered. The length of the irrigation season depends on water availability.

Residents are reminded not to use potable water for lawn irrigation, as it will increase utility bills, and the city lacks sufficient backup domestic water for irrigation needs. The Nampa Water and Irrigation Division advises against operating city irrigation valves when blowing out sprinkler lines. Customers unsure about valve distinctions should contact the division before shutting off any valves.
